McCoy completes all 13 pass attempts in Browns' finale
Not only did rookie quarterback Colt McCoy start the Cleveland Browns' final preseason game Thursday against the Chicago Bears, he went 13-of-13 passing for 131 yards. McCoy had endured a shaky preseason until Thursday, when he completed passes to eight different receivers. The former University of Texas star, who slid to the third round in April's draft before the Browns selected him at No. 85 overall, had completed 15 of 26 passes for 101 yards with two interceptions for a 57.7 rating entering Thursday night's game. McCoy isn't in danger of being cut. The Browns will devote this season to him learning behind Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
Giants' Manning, Pats' Brady solid in final tuneup
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Eli Manning of the New York Giants and Tom Brady of the New England Patriots were solid in their final tuneups for the regular season. And Rhett Bomar might have nailed down the job as the Giants' backup quarterback, throwing a 60-yard scoring pass to Duke Calhoun with 1:49 to play as the team rallied for a 20-17 victory over the New England Patriots on Thursday night. The winning score came just minutes after Darnell Jenkins put the Patriots ahead 17-12 by catching a short pass from Brian Hoyer and turning it into a 66-yard scoring play with one move and a burst of speed. The good news for both teams was they came out the preseason finale relatively healthy. The Patriots (2-2) will host Terrell Owens, Chad Ochocinco and the Cincinnati Bengals on Sept. 12. The Giants (2-2) will open at home against the Carolina Panthers in their new $1.6 billion stadium.

Terry Bradshaw Bashes Ben Roethlisberger, Other NFL Stars

NFL analyst Terry Bradshaw interviews former Cardinals QB Kurt Warner in 2009.
NFL Hall of Famer and TV analyst Terry Bradshaw still has a big passion for football, but there are plenty of things he doesn't appreciate about the way today's stars act.
In a wide-ranging interview with The Shreveport Times, Bradshaw ripped Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for his alleged off-field conduct, and didn't mince words when speaking about other high-profile players in the NFL.
Roethisberger, who leads Bradshaw's former team, was initially suspended six games for violating the league's personal conduct policy, but the suspension was shortened to four games after he met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Friday.
"Going to bars -- treating women like that; oh my God," Bradshaw said of Roethlisberger in the story. "I pray they don't cut (his NFL suspension) to four games. I hope they leave it at six. There is no excuse for that. The egos get out of hand."

NHL, NHLPA Reach Agreement; Ilya Kovalchuk Contract to be Approved
Filed under: Devils, NHL Free Agency, NHL EconomicsWe've been down this road before, but it appears as if the Ilya Kovalchuk contract situation is finally, mercifully, close to an end result.
On Friday, multiple media outlets, including TSN's Darren Dreger, ESPN's EJ Hradek and Tom Gulitti of The Bergen Record are all reporting that the NHL and NHLPA have come to an agreement on an ammendment to the CBA in regards to the long-term contracts that have become the bane of the league's existence the past two years.
The 17-year contract that the Devils originally had with Kovalchuk this summer was obviously the breaking point, dragging out his free agency to this point in early September. After the Devils submitted a revised contract last week (a reported 15-year pact worth $100 million) the league was supposed to make a decision on whether or not to approve it by 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
Instead of reaching a decision, the deadline was pushed back to Friday, prolonging the situation even further. According to Friday's reports, the newest contract will be approved as part of the new CBA ammendment.
Not long after Wednesday's deadline was delayed, reports surfaced that the NHL had issued an ultimatum to the NHLPA regarding contracts like the ones signed by Roberto Luongo and Marian Hossa, among others. Those reports, however, were disputed in the sense that it wasn't necessarily an ultimatum, but simply a negotiation between the two sides. Either way, the agreement will also lead to the Luongo and Hossa deals being approved, as well.
According to Gulitti, via Twitter, the "CBA amendment would involve stipulations on cap hit for deals going past age 35 and age 40."
