KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Tennessee's all-SEC guard Scotty Hopson is headed to the NBA.
Hopson announced Saturday he'll enter the draft, but has till midnight Sunday to reconsider. The NBA draft is June 23.
The 6-foot-7 swingman told the Knoxville News Sentinel that he felt the timing was right to leave and that coach Bruce Pearl's firing "played a lot into my decision."
Hopson's prospects are unclear because of a worry over his consistency. His talent has never been in question. He led the Volunteers with 17 points per game last season and would have been the key player for new coach Cuonzo Martin next season. But some consider him a second-round pick.
Martin now has just one starter returning after also losing Tobias Harris, a top freshman who is also entering the draft.
