INZELL, Germany (AP) -- Jenny Wolf of Germany won the women's 500-meter title for the fourth year in a row at the speedskating world championships Sunday, and the U.S. surprisingly won the team pursuit.
The American trio of Shani Davis, Trevor Marsicano and Jonathan Kuck clocked 3 minutes, 41.72 seconds to take the gold ahead of Canada and Netherlands.
Wolf, the world record holder in the 500, won the first race in 37.98 seconds and defended her position with a 37.95 in the second.
Olympic champion Lee Sang-Hwa of South Korea was second, clocking 38.14 in the first race and 38.03 in the second. China's Wang Beixing claimed bronze.
Kyou-Hyuk Lee of South Korea claimed gold in the men's 500 with times of 34.78 and 34.32. The 32-year-old also won in 2007, 2008 and 2010, making him one of four male skaters to win the championships four times.
Japan's Joji Kato finished second with times of 34.90 and 34.52, and Jan Smeekens earned bronze.
Canada's Denny Morrison, Lucas Makowsky and Mathieu Giroux were second in the pursuit in 3:41.85. The Netherlands took bronze, with Bob de Vries, Jan Blokhuijsen and Koen Verweij clocking 3:43.44.
Canada won the women's event, with Christine Nesbitt, Brittany Schussler and Cindy Klassen finishing in 2:59.74 to beat the Dutch and German trios.
