Former Ohio State coach Jim Tressel joined current coach Luke Fickell and other school administrators as they met with the NCAA's committee on infractions Friday in Indianapolis.
The Buckeyes have been dealing with the NCAA since last December when it was discovered five players had received impermissible benefits. Quarterback Terrelle Pryor and four others were allowed to play in the Sugar Bowl and serve their penalties in the 2011 season.
After the season, it was discovered Tressel had lied about his knowledge of the violations. An ensuing investigation led to Tressel's resignation and Pryor leaving school because of concerns about his eligibility.
As part of self-imposed penalties, Ohio State has already vacated its wins for 2010 and accepted two years of probation. The committee will determine if the school will face any further sanctions and also decide how to punish Tressel, who could be given a show-cause penalty that would effectively stop him from coaching during that time frame.
Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith said he would be extremely upset if additional penalties were levied against the school.
"I'll be shocked and disappointed and on the offensive," Smith told The Associated Press. "It'll be behavior you haven't witnessed."
A decision likely will not be made until at least six weeks after the hearing.
