BATON ROUGE -- LSU starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson and three other players have been asked to report to the Baton Rouge Police Department office Monday morning to be interviewed about their roles in a fight outside a bar near campus early Friday, after which four non-football players were treated at a local hospital, police spokesman Sgt. Don Stone said Sunday morning.
"We're not ruling out the fact that they could be arrested on battery-related charges," Stone said.
The players in addition to Jefferson were implicated following police interviews with witnesses and the four injured men. They are freshman wide receiver Jarvis Landry, sophomore offensive tackle Chris Davenport and sophomore linebacker Josh Johns.
Stone said police detectives interviewed the four injured victims Saturday.
"All four have decided to press charges against the persons responsible," Stone said. "They implicated Jefferson, Davenport, Landry and Johns as those people."
Stone added that it may take a day or two for any or all of the LSU players to be arrested.
"As a result of the interviews with the players, investigators may have to go back and interview the four injured or other witnesses to cross check the story," he said. "I don't foresee any arrests Monday, but I'm not ruling it out either."
Stone said more LSU players could be interviewed this week. He said as many as 20 football players were at the scene.
The four injured men were treated and released shortly after going to the hospital after 2 a.m. Friday. The fight started outside a bar just blocks from Tiger Stadium between 1:30 and 2 a.m Friday, Stone said.
Investigators have been trying unsuccessfully to find surveillance video of the fight from the bar and businesses near it.
"We haven't obtained any video," Stone said. "We don't have any indication that there is any video. We were hoping that someone at the bar would have recorded it on a cellular phone, but so far we have not been able to locate that."
No. 4 LSU opens the season Sept. 3 against No. 3 Oregon in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
LSU coach Les Miles has been disciplining various members of his team for three days now by running them until he finds out more information through cooperation with police.
"At the appropriate time, we'll take very strong action," Miles said Saturday.
