Daniel Sedin back in Vancouver after hit to head

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Canucks left winger Daniel Sedin has returned to Vancouver after taking an elbow to the head in a game against Chicago.

A team spokesperson confirmed Thursday that Sedin flew home following Vancouver's 2-1 overtime loss to the Blackhawks a night earlier, when Sedin was sidelined by a hit from Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith in the first period.

Keith received a 2-minute elbowing penalty on the play.

The Canucks are in Dallas for a game against the Stars on Thursday night.

The team spokesperson said she could not provide an update on Sedin's condition. Vancouver coach Alain Vigneault was expected to provide an update before the start of Thursday's game.

Sedin leads the Canucks with 30 goals and is second to twin brother Henrik with 67 points.
