DALLAS -- Seven people were injured, one critically, by falling ice at Cowboys Stadium on Friday. The NFL confirmed the report by The Dallas Morning News that the ice had fallen from the roof of the site of Sunday's Super Bowl XLV between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers.Five of the seven were reportedly taken to area hospitals as the Metroplex continued to be hit by a second winter storm. Snow, which ranged from 1.8 inches at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport but reached five inches in nearby Richardson, was forecast to end later Friday afternoon. The airport set snow records on both Thursday and Friday, but all runways were open on Friday morning.
Dallas area roads remained icy with many cars stranded. The North Texas Tollway Authority was forced to close the southbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway for almost an hour toward the tail end of the morning rush hour because of snow accumulation and the lack of snowplows.
