FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Hamburger SV striker Paolo Guerrero could be banned for eight matches for a tackle from behind during a Bundesliga match.
The German federation's disciplinary panel has proposed the lengthy ban for the Peru international's violent challenge on Stuttgart goalkeeper Sven Ulreich during a 4-0 loss on Saturday.
Guerrero was given a straight red card for the tackle in the 54th minute.
Hamburg has appealed, saying the proposed punishment is too severe when compared to similar fouls and subsequent bans in recent months.
