James Harrison recorded four sacks and 15 tackles in three postseason games this year. Imagine what he could have done if he was healthy. The Steelers' veteran outside linebacker will undergo shoulder surgery on Monday to help repair an injury he suffered in the Steelers' divisional round playoff game against the Ravens. Harrison recorded three sacks in that game. He added another seven tackles in the AFC championship game against the Jets, then recorded a sack in the Super Bowl against the Packers.
Harrison said on Twitter that the injury should sideline him only four to six weeks, which means he should be fully recovered before any of the Steelers' planned offseason minicamps. However, if the NFL owners lock out the players, those minicamps would be canceled. The potential lockout also gives plenty of incentive for Harrison to get the surgery over with -- if there was a lockout, any further medical care would not be covered by the Steelers until a new collective bargaining agreement is reached.
Harrison just finished the second year of a six-year contract that should keep the 32-year-old in Pittsburgh for the remainder of his career.
