Baylor's Griner invited to USA basketball camp

WACO, Texas (AP) Brittney Griner is going to training camp with USA basketball.

Baylor's 6-foot-8 All-American has been invited to the national team's camp next week in Las Vegas. Griner is the only player expected to participate that still has college eligibility remaining.

Griner, who hopes to be on an Olympic team, says she is honored to be invited.

As a sophomore last season, Griner averaged 23 points and 7.8 rebounds for Baylor (34-3), which advanced to an NCAA regional final. She led the nation again with 170 blocked shots.

Griner was the Big 12 player of the year and the league's defensive player of the year. She is the first Baylor player invited to the national team camp.
