Most new cameras are unveiled at the Photo Marketing Association confab later this month. But Canon, Sony and Casio jumped the gun at CES with new still cameras and video cameras with some cool features. Canon has a new line of high-definition camcorders called Vixia, highlighted by what it calls a "Dual-Memory" model, the $1,099 HF10. The camera records to a built-in 16 gigabyte flash memory drive (good for about 2 hours of video at top quality) and also has a slot for additional memory via an SD card. The camera also includes a microphone jack -- an accessory sorely missing from most consumer camcorders -- and the ability to record in "24p" cinema mode, a movie-like look and high-end feature usually found in camcorders selling for $2,500 and up. Canon's pre-existing Hi-def models, like the HG10, now get the "Vixia" moniker to signify the hi-def status. The camera will be available in April.
