Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom accepts the Norris Trophy during the 2011 NHL Awards ceremony at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

He was up against the Boston Bruins' Zdeno Chara and Nashville Predators' Shea Weber.

Lidstrom ties Doug Harvey for second-most Norris trophies behind Bobby Orr, who won eight with the Boston Bruins from 1968 to 1975.

Lidstrom, who turned 41 in April, finished second among league defensemen with 62 points, his most since his last Norris Trophy season in 2007-08.

The only knock is that he finished with a minus-2 rating, the lone minus rating of his career.

Chara, who led the league with a plus 33, was shut out of the award, but won the Mark Messier Leadership Award and got to walk out on the stage with the Stanley Cup.

Boston goaltender Tim Thomas, the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP, won the Vezina Trophy for the second time in two years. He finished with an NHL-record .938 save percentage.

The Vancouver Canucks, whom the Bruins beat in seven games, walked off with three early awards:

Daniel Sedin, a finalist for the Hart Trophy and winner of the Art Ross Trophy as top scorer, received the Ted Lindsay Award, MVP as voted by fellow players.

Mike Gillis was general manager of the year and Ryan Kesler won the Selke Trophy as top defensive forward.

Also:

?Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Bylsma, whose team survived the loss of Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin and still topped 100 points, won the Jack Adams Award. He also was without Jordan Staal for the first half of the season.

"Our team kept playing, kept believing, through all of the adversity," Bylsma said. "This really is a testament to them."

?Jeff Skinner, who led NHL rookies in scoring at age 18, won the Calder Trophy.

?Tampa Bay Lightning winger Martin St. Louis won the Lady Byng Trophy for sportsmanship for the second year in a row. The Hart Trophy finalist had 99 points and 12 penalty minutes.

?The Philadelphia Flyers' Ian Laperriere won the Masterton Trophy for perseverance.

?New York Islanders center Doug Weight, who retired this spring, won the King Clancy Trophy for leadership and humanitarian contributions.
