Notable subtractions: SP Mark Buehrle, OF Carlos Quentin, RP Sergio Santos, RP Jason Frasor
Starter John Danks was given a contract extension to be Chicago's No. 1 starter, but otherwise GM Kenny Williams allowed Buerhle to leave via free agency and traded Quentin, Santos and Frasor -- a nod to rebuilding, sure, but one less drastic than expected. There's still talent here, headlined by Paul Konerko, but most of it underachieved last year (ahem, Adam Dunn, Alexis Rios and Gordon Beckham). The White Sox will move lefty Chris Sale into the rotation and rookie reliever Addison Reed could assume a prominent role, but there aren't many other young pieces to dream on.
