NBA fines Mark Cuban $75K for slamming refs

Mark Cuban is $75,000 lighter in the wallet after being fined for his criticisms of the crew that officiated the Dallas Mavericks' Wednesday night loss to Oklahoma City.

Mavs coach Rick Carlisle, who was ejected from that game after kicking a ball into the stands, also was hit with a $35,000 fine, according to the Dallas Morning News.

But that's something of a victory for the Mavericks, since there was concern expressed by Cuban that Carlisle could be suspended.

And, as CNBC's sports business columnist Darren Rovelltweeted: "Mark Cuban's 75K fine represents 0.003% of his net worth. That's the equivalent of fining the average American THREE DOLLARS."
