An eventful day on the diamond saw a number of the nation's best college baseball teams advance to the next round of the Division I NCAA Tournament on Sunday.

No. 1 Florida hammered intra-state rival No. 2 Miami -- scoring all 11 runs of an 11-4 victory in the first three innings -- to advance to the Super Regionals for a school record third consecutive season. Gator standout Preston Tucker was named the Regional MVP after going 7-for-14 with three homers and 11 RBIs on the weekend.

The Gators were the first team in the tournament to punch their Super Regional ticket. Virginia, UC Irvine, Vanderbilt, North Carolina, Oregon State, Mississippi State, Florida and Arizona State and Stanford also advanced Sunday.

In Fort Worth, Texas, Chris Elder's grand slam for No. 4 Oral Roberts helped the Golden Eagles eliminate top-seeded TCU with an 8-4 upset victory. The defeat was particularly hard for the Horned Frogs because starter Kyle Winkler was removed from the game in the first inning due to an arm injury. Oral Roberts would go on to defeat Dallas Baptist, 7-2 in the nightcap. DBU and Oral Roberts will square off again Monday with the winner advancing to the next round.

No. 3 Alabama, No. 1 Georgia Tech and No. 2 Connecticut also had big days Sunday afternoon -- hanging 12 runs on each of their daytime opponents. Shortstop Jared Reaves led the way for the Crimson Tide with a 3-for-5 afternoon that included a double, three RBIs and three runs scored in the 12-5 win over No. 2 UCF.

Alabama's game against Florida State was suspended because of the weather with FSU leading 8-1 on Sunday evening. The game is scheduled to resume Monday at noon ET. If Alabama rallies to win, the final game of the Tallahassee Regional will begin 50 minutes after the game's conclusion.

The matchup between South Carolina and Stetson was also suspended until Monday because of severe weather. The game is scheduled to resume with South Carolina leading 4-1 in the top of the fifth inning.

As for Connecticut, its talented duo of center fielder George Springer and shortstop Nick Ahmed -- both likely first-rounders in the upcoming MLB First-Year Player Draft -- combined to go 2-for-7 with three runs and an RBI in UConn's 12-6 win against No. 3 Coastal Carolina. Ahmed went 3-for-4 and Springer added another hit in Connecticut's 7-6 win against top-ranked Clemson in the Huskies' second game of the day.

No. 1 Georgia Tech was paced by Buck Farmer, who struck out nine and scattered five hits and two runs (one earned) in a complete game effort in a 12-2 rout of No. 4 Austin Peay. Mississippi State defeated Georgia Tech, 7-3, later Sunday to win the Atlanta regional.

Arkansas standout James McCann had three RBIs in No. 2 Arkansas' 11-3 win against No. 3 Charlotte. And out west, freshman Adam Plutko allowed just one hit in 7 2/3 scoreless innings to help keep No. 1 UCLA alive by eliminating No. 4 San Francisco.

In other action, St. John's shortstop Joe Panik went 1-for-3 in the losing effort against East Carolina while Pirates catcher Zach Wright went 1-for-4 on the winning side.

No. 2 Arizona shut out No. 3 Seton Hall, 6-0, to advance to the regional final against Texas A&M Sunday night and won that game, 7-4. Konner Wade earned the win for the Wildcats in the afternoon session, while lefty Bryce Bandilla threw two shutout frames to close it out. The Wildcats and Aggies will play Monday, with the winner advancing to the Super Regionals.

The University of Texas defeated Texas State, 4-3, and Kent State, 9-3, to force a deciding game with the Golden Flashes on Monday to determine the winner of the Austin regional. Texas shortstop Brandon Loy went 1-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored against Kent State in the nightcap.
