Hawaii beats New Orleans 82-58

HONOLULU (AP) � Vander Joaquim scored 19 points and Joston Thomas added 16 as Hawaii beat New Orleans 82-58 Tuesday night.

Shaquille Stokes scored 11 points off the bench and Jeremiah Ostrowski had 10 assists for Hawaii, which ended the game on a 37-18 run. Joaquim scored the first seven points of the surge.

Hawaii (15-10) jumped to a 24-4 lead behind nine points from Hans Brereton. Then New Orleans made four consecutive 3-pointers during a 21-6 run to get within 30-25 with 5:30 remaining in the half. Brandon Knight had nine points during the run, including a 3-pointer, Max Banchy hit two 3s and Brandon Canady contributed a four-point play.

The Rainbow Warriors shot 52 percent from the field, while the Privateers made 33 percent of their shots.

Canady scored 16 points and Knight added 15 for New Orleans (15-12), which is making the transition from Division I to Division II.
