Missouri State ends host Miami's season with 12-2 win

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) ? Kennen Maddox drove in four runs to lead Missouri State to a 12-2 win over Miami in an elimination game in the Coral Gables Regional on Saturday.

Miami finished 36-23 and failed to win a tournament game for the first since since going 0-2 in the 1993 South Regional at Baton Rouge, La. In the two losses this year, the Hurricanes were outscored 22-4. Miami had won 13 straight regional championships when serving as the host.

Missouri State (40-21) scored seven runs in the first inning sending 11 batters to the plate off Steven Ewing (6-3), who lasted just two-thirds of an inning.

Maddox hit a two-run double in the first, an RBI double in the second, and a run-scoring single in the sixth.

Pierce Johnson (4-6) struck out seven in eight innings, Brock Chaffin had three hits and Brent Siefert drove in two runs for the Bears, who pounded out 15 hits.
