Previewing the NCAA gymnastics championships

Men

When: Thursday-Saturday.

Where: Lloyd Noble Center, Norman, Okla.

Schedule: Thursday ? Team semifinals in two six-team sessions, 2 and 8 p.m. ET; Friday ? Top three teams from each Thursday session compete for team title, individual all-around title determined, 8 p.m. ET; Saturday ? Individual event finals, 8 p.m. ET.

Defending champion: Stanford. The Cardinal enter this year's nationals as the third seed.

Top seed: Oklahoma. The Sooners have won the title each of the last two times they've hosted, in 2002 and '06.

Individuals to watch:Jake Dalton, Oklahoma, Jr., ranked No. 1 in all-around as well as floor exercise and parallel bars, defending NCAA champion in floor exercise and vault; Sam Mikulak, Michigan, So., defending NCAA all-around champ, the first freshman to win all-around; Paul Ruggeri, Illinois, Sr., three-time NCAA champion, won three medals (one each gold, silver, bronze) at 2011 Pan Am Games in October; Eddie Penev, Stanford, Jr., won the floor exercise and vault at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championships and tied for fifth in last year's NCAA floor exercise finals.

Women

When: Friday-Sunday

Where: Gwinnett Center, Duluth, Ga.

Schedule: Friday ? Team semifinals in two six-team sessions, noon and 6 p.m. ET; Saturday ? Top three from each Friday session compete for team title, 4 p.m. ET; Sunday ? Individual event championships, 1 p.m. ET.

Defending champ: Alabama. The Tide enter this year's nationals as champion of the Seattle Regional and seeded fourth. This is their 30th consecutive year reaching nationals.

Top seed: Florida. The Gators are Southeastern Conference champs and won the Raleigh Regional in pursuit of their first national title.

Individuals to watch:Geralen Stack-Eaton, Alabama, Sr., defending national champ in floor exercise, won three events at regionals (all-around, uneven bars, floor exercise), scored a 10.0 on vault in win vs. Georgia in January; Marissa King, Florida, Jr., defending national champ in vault, represented Great Britain in 2008 Olympics; Kat Ding, Georgia, Sr., defending national champ on uneven bars, won all-around at this year's Auburn Regional; Samantha Peszek, UCLA, So., defending national champ on balance beam, scored 9.95 on vault at this year's Fayetteville Regional.
