Woodhead scored on a key 22-yard run in the second quarter Sunday, turning a 13-7 Patriots deficit into a 14-13 lead. All told, he rushed three times for 42 yards in New England's 38-30 victory.
Woodhead signed with the Patriots on Sept. 18, one day before New England lost to the Jets -- the running back was inactive for that game. But with Kevin Faulk lost to the season due to an ACL injury, the Patriots opted to utilize the versatile Woodhead against Buffalo. Woodhead made that decision pay off with his first career touchdown.
