Filed under: UNC, ACCThe NCAA has spoken in regards to the status of two suspended North Carolina football players -- Kendric Burney (pictured right) and Deunta Williams.
The NCAA student-athlete reinstatement staff ruled Wednesday that both Burney and Williams must miss competition and repay benefits as a condition of becoming eligible to play again.
Burney, who received $1,333 in benefits, must miss six games and make a repayment of $575.19 to a charity of his choice. Williams, who received $1,426 in benefits, must miss four games and make a repayment of $450.67 to a charity of his choice.
Both players already have sat out two games, which count as part of the penalty. Twelve UNC players remain suspended or continue to be held out for precautionary reasons because of two NCAA investigations into the program.
Dick Baddour, UNC's director of athletics, believes the penalties regarding Burney and Williams are harsh.
