Filed under: NFL RefereesDo you believe the punishment should fit the crime? If not, you were either an O.J. juror or are now a member of the pass interference lobby.
The latter group has been all worked up since Sunday, when interference calls altered two games. There are renewed cries for the NFL to adopt the NCAA's interference rule.
In other words, a cornerback could commit football murder and get away with community service. The late Johnnie Cochran would be proud.
So would my Tuesday Tussle counterpart, the honorable lawyer Clay Travis. I, however, believe in truth, justice and the American Way. If you do the crime, your team should do the time.
The crime in question is pass interference. It's based on the not-so-ridiculous assumption that a receiver would have caught a pass if not for being held, tackled, mugged, blinded, spindled or mutilated by the defensive back.
Sounds fair, right?
