Filed under: Action SportsT.J. Lavin is battling pneumonia, but doctors reportedly don't expect any brain damage after crashing his BMX bike at an event last week.
Lavin is in a medically induced coma, and it's believed the breathing tube that is assisting him is the source of the pneumonia.
"Everything is good there," Chas Aday, Lavin's friend and business manager, told PEOPLE. "Doctors are not expecting any [brain damage], but we're just not going to know until he wakes up if there is any loss or how bad it is going to be."
"He's responding well," Aday said. "He's squeezing our hands, so he's responding appropriately. ... He is coherent, but not fully awake. He's following simple commands."
