Steve Phillips' World Series Breakdown

Filed under: Giants, Rangers, MLB Playoffs, World Series, Executive TakeWe have new blood in the World Series this year. Most anticipated that we would see a rematch of the Yankees and Phillies but both fell short. The Rangers and Giants are two very interesting teams. It may not be the match up that the networks were hoping for but for those willing to keep an open mind there are plenty of reasons to watch.

Texas Rangers

The Rangers are a team filled with players who have persevered through difficult times in their lives and careers.

Ron Washington, their manager, was a product of the Kansas City Royals baseball academy. He had to prove himself year in and year out to earn his uniform as a player. He was able to muster parts of 10 seasons. After his playing career, he worked his way up to a major league coach and then the manager of the Rangers. He overcame the embarrassment of testing positive for cocaine last year while he was serving as the manager. He has believed in hard work his entire career in baseball and it has paid dividends for him.
