Short-handed Florida eliminated by South Florida

Sophomore Sara Nevins threw her seventh complete-game shutout of the season for the Bulls (47-11), who advanced to the super regionals for the second time. She struck out 12 to earn her 29th victory of the season.

Florida shortstop Cheyenne Coyle, third baseman Sami Fagan and outfielder Kasey Fagan were dismissed from the team by coach Tim Walton on the eve of postseason play. The school would not state the reason for the suspensions but Kevin Fagan, father of Sami and Kasey, told the Ocala (Fla.) Star-Banner it was because of an altercation.

Florida (48-13) reached the championship finals in 2009 and 2011. Sami Fagan was the Gators' leading hitter with a .378 average while Coyle had 10 homers 34 RBI.
