Pro Bowl cornerback Charles Woodson was added to the Green Bay Packers' injury report Friday after jamming his toe at the end of Thursday's practice. Woodson is listed as probable for Sunday's season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles.
"(He) just stepped on the back of one of our receivers' foot," coach Mike McCarthy said. "(We're) just being cautious, and we sent him up to the training room for some rehab." McCarthy indicated that Woodson injured the same toe that has bothered him at times since he broke it in 2008 and added that he is confident Woodson will play Sunday. Woodson, the 2009 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, was a late addition to the injury list. He was limited in practice on Friday. The Packers signed Woodson to a contract extension through the 2014 season on Thursday, a deal that likely will allow him to retire with the team. Woodson, a six-time Pro Bowl selection, is entering his fifth season with the Packers after spending eight with the Oakland Raiders. Besides Woodson, the Packers added LT Chad Clifton (knee) and S Derrick Martin (ankle) to the injury report. McCarthy is holding Clifton and Martin, who are probable for Sunday's game, out of practice on Fridays at the start of the season for rest-and-recovery purposes.
