Matt Ryan Is Best Young Quarterback in the League

Filed under: Atlanta Falcons, NFC South, NFL QuarterbacksNFL quarterbacks are like wine, they take a few years to mature. And even then you're not exactly sure how they're going to turn out.

Look around the NFL and quarterback is not a position for the young. Retreads step under center, uncertainty is the staple route, it's come to this at the most difficult and important position in all of sports, mediocrity governs. How many coaches truly feel comfortable about the performance their quarterback is going to give them every week?

Eliminate veteran stalwarts such as Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, and Tom Brady, and how many other quarterbacks would you bet on? Hardly any, right? What's more, the youngest generation of quarterbacks, the ones who are getting $50 million guaranteed as signing bonuses, are even more fraught with peril than some of the retread no-names starting in the league.

Which quarterback with under three years of experience would you take and feel somewhat confident that said quarterback will win a Super Bowl in his career? In making your selection keep in mind that Carson Palmer, supposedly the heir apparent to Peyton Manning a few years back, has yet to even win a single playoff game. The pickings are slim and after much thought, there's only one young quarterback you can take: Matt Ryan.
