The greatly anticipated debut of Brett Favre-to-Randy Moss displayed firepower late Monday night, but Dwight Lowery returned an interception for a touchdown to seal a Jets victory at the New Meadowlands Stadium, 29-20.
The big questions heading into the Vikings-Jets game were whether Moss would make a difference to the Vikings' offense, and whether Favre would be distracted by the NFL's investigation into claims that he sexually harassed a former Jets employee.
Once the game started, it was ugly, as both teams played mistake-filled football in the New Jersey rain. Both offenses, however, would click at different times as the game wore on.

o. The Vikings' first offensive play was a funny misadventure, with Moss getting a handoff on a reverse and then throwing a pass to Favre. The only problem is that Favre wasn't an eligible receiver, so the play was called back on a penalty.
o. That opening trick play aside, the primary focus of the Vikings' offense in the first quarter was running back Adrian Peterson. In fact, Favre didn't actually throw a pass until the Vikings' third offensive possession.
o. The Jets' defense, as it usually is, was tough and physical, although it appeared that the front seven was wearing down as the game went on.
o. Favre didn't connect with Moss until less than five minutes remained in the first half.
o. On the play after Favre hit Moss, he appeared to be rushing and fumbled the snap. It was a big mental error, and it was his 161st career fumble -- tied with Warren Moon for the most in NFL history.
o. For most of the game Favre looked like he could do absolutely nothing right, but he got hot late in the third quarter. In the third quarter, Favre drilled a completion to Percy Harvin to go over 70,000 passing yards for his career, and then he dropped a beautiful pass into the hands of Moss in the end zone for his 500th career touchdown pass.
o. Minnesota couldn't celebrate the Moss touchdown for long, as Brad Smith returned the ensuing kickoff 86 yards for the Jets to set up a Nick Folk field goal.

o. Folk was one of the best players on the field Monday night, which was good for the Jets -- even though Folk's field goals were a symptom of the inability of the Jets' offense to reach the end zone.
o. Favre threw an outstanding pass to find Harvin over the middle for the game's second touchdown, which made the score 15-13. But the Vikings wasted a timeout before the two-point conversion attempt, which was unsuccessful when Favre missed an open receiver in the end zone.
