Filed under: UFLORLANDO, Fla. -- Running back Dominic Rhodes isn't so much interested in talking about his Super Bowl heroics with the Indianapolis Colts from four seasons ago as he is showing you what he looks like today -- at age 31.
He points to his abdomen and smiles. He smiles a lot these days.
"I'm toned. I'm strong. I've got a six-pack again. I haven't had a six-pack since high school,'' he said. "These last few months, I've worked harder than I ever did. When you watch me on the field now, you'll see: I'm better than I ever was.''
Rhodes is in the first week of training camp with the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League, genuinely excited to be playing the game again, bubbling with enthusiasm, flashing some of the moves that once made him a pretty good NFL running back.
"I never saw him at 22, but if I didn't know he was 31, I'd say he still looks good. He's still got that extra gear, that quick burst you need,'' Tuskers running backs coach Kurt Beathard said. "And you have to love his attitude. He makes you feel good about what you're doing.''
Rhodes is one of four running backs with considerable NFL experience on the Tuskers' training camp roster, joining Aveion Cason, Maurice Hicks and Tatum Bell, all looking to become the featured back.
