Lance Stephenson Arrested for Allegedly Throwing Girlfriend Down Stairs

Filed under: Pacers, NBA Police BlotterUPDATE: Lance Stephenson was released after a court appearance Monday, according to the New York Daily News. He "slammed" the victim's head down the stairs, according to court records.

Lance Stephenson was arrested early Sunday morning at 5:05 a.m. for allegedly tossing his girlfriend down the stairs in front of a Brooklyn home, poilce said, according to the New York Post.

Stephenson, who is one of the most fabled Brooklyn products to enter the NBA in years, was recently drafted 40th overall by the Indiana Pacers. In his freshman season at Cincinnati, the 19-year-old averaged 12.3 points and 5.4 rebounds. Although not particularly impressive numbers, he showed glimpses of the raw talent scouts drooled over for years, especially on the offensive end, where he proved to be a hard nosed and gifted scorer at the rim.

Jasmine Williams, 21, whom Stephenson has a child with, told police he pushed her down the stairs and that she hit her head during the fall. She was taken to a Coney Island hospital, while he was arrested at the scene.
