Jim Harbaugh No Longer Broncos' Target

Jim Harbaugh's future is still the talk of both the pro and college football worlds, but it appears to be clearing.

A day after the Dolphins have reportedly decided to stop pursuing the Stanford coach, the Broncos are apparently walking away as well. John Elway said on his radio show Friday that the Broncos are no longer looking to interview Harbaugh.

In his introductory press conference as the Broncos' new football czar, Elway -- a Stanford alum -- stated his interest in Harbaugh. Harbaugh, however, only showed "backburner interest" in the Broncos, meeting with the 49ers, Dolphins and Stanford first. A meeting couldn't be arranged between he and Denver due to schedule.

The Broncos were considered somewhat of a longshot to land Harbaugh, anyway. Most reports indicate that Harbaugh's decision will be between the 49ers and Stanford, though Elway believes Michigan could be back in the mix. Michigan was rumored to be interested before they even fired Rich Rodriguez, but reports indicated Harbaugh wasn't looking to return to his alma mater.

As for the Broncos, former Giants coach and Broncos assistant Jim Fassel has been linked to the opening, but Fassel told FanHouse that no meetings have been set up with the team.
