These Days, Not Enough Hatred Between Bears and Packers

Give me that old-time religion in football, especially when the Super Bowl is on the line. So give me Bill Curry, preaching the gospel of ignoring anything that doesn't involve blocking, tackling or smiling after smacking the breath out of your biggest rival.

That's why, if Curry hears one more word from the Green Bay Packers about the shoddy turf at Soldier Field in Chicago, his head will explode into a mass of green, gold and white.

You know, Packers colors.

Since Curry began his decade in the NFL playing for those legendary Vince Lombardi teams of the mid-1960s, and since the first of the three Super Bowls he started at center was with the Packers, he remains true to his pro football roots. Which means he'll pull for Green Bay against Chicago on Sunday during the NFC championship game.

Which means Curry wants the Packers to stop whining over the Bears' home field resembling the lunar surface. He also wants them to stop listening to the slew of Bears players who keep discussing it -- likely so they can pound the matter into the Packers' heads.
