Blake Griffin's 47 Points Set Clippers' Rookie Record

Blake GriffinBlake Griffin continued his eye-popping rookie season Monday, when he scored a career-high 47 points, a franchise rookie record for the Los Angeles Clippers, who beat the Indiana Pacers 114-107.

It was the 10th win in the last 14 games for the Clippers, who have been lifted by Griffin's heroics. Monday's performance also was the highest scoring output in the NBA this season. Monta Ellis of the Golden State Warriors scored 46 points earlier in the campaign.

Known for highlight-reel dunks, Griffin has been as consistent as he has been spectacular.

The rookie forward recorded his 33rd double-double -- 27th consecutive -- in 39 games this season, shooting 19-of-24 from the field and adding 14 rebounds. His 19 made field goals also were a career high.

Yes, he dunked the ball against the Pacers, but his offensive game, while not polished, has been evolving. Griffin showed a competent baseline jumper, a soft touch in the lane and an array of hooks and bank shots Monday. Watch his solid spin move here.

"It's cool because all I hear is, 'He can dunk and jumps high,' " Griffin said. "People question the other skills and as a basketball player, you take that personally.''
