Al Golden will be the new football coach at the University of Miami, according to multiple reports. The school confirmed the hiring Monday and will introduce Golden at a Monday night press conference.
A source told The Associated Press that the deal is believed to be for at least four years and worth up to $8 million for the 41-year-old Golden.
Golden led Temple to 17 wins in the last two seasons, improving a school that went 1-11 in his first campaign. The Owls were 8-4 this season but were not invited to a bowl game.
The University of Pittsburgh also reportedly offered Golden its head coaching job and, up until Sunday night, Golden was contemplating where he would end up.
Golden has earned a reputation as a passionate recruiter, strong motivator and a man who prides himself on players' performance in academics.
Golden will replace Hurricanes coach Randy Shannon, who was fired after the Hurricanes (7-5) finished with a loss to South Florida.
