Brett Favre to Be Fined, Not Suspended, in Jenn Sterger Mess

The NFL plans to announce punishment Wednesday or Thursday for Vikings quarterback Brett Favre in the Jenn Sterger matter. A source close to the situation confirmed for FanHouse a FOXSports.com report that Favre would be fined but not suspended for his conduct toward Sterger while both were members of the New York Jets organization in 2008. Sterger has alleged that Favre made unwanted sexual advances toward her that included inappropriate text and photo messages sent to her phone.

According to the source, the league didn't feel the evidence its investigation turned up rose to the level of a suspension for sexual harassment in the workplace but did feel Favre's actions cast the league in a negative enough light to warrant a fine. The source was not aware of the amount of money the league planned to fine Favre, who has said (as he has said many times in past years) that he plans to retire at the end of this season.
