With the Saints excelling at defending the pass, the Ravens went with a run-heavy strategy in Sunday's game. It certainly paid off for Ray Rice, who totaled 233 yards on 36 touches while scoring twice. I was on the fence about whether he'd be a good play this week -- I guess now we have our answer. What made Rice simply a borderline play this week? He's normally a stranger to the end zone, scoring just three times in 2010 heading into Week 15. He'd also averaged a shade over 10 points over Weeks 12-14 -- solid numbers for sure, but hardly the work of an elite running back.
Hopefully, you allowed Rice's name value to make your decision easy and keep him in your lineup. If so, bravo. We'll see you in the fantasy championship.
On the flip side, the Ravens passing game was largely stagnant, with Joe Flacco completing only 10 passes, and half of those going to Rice. Tight end Ed Dickson, filling in for Todd Heap, had two of the remaining five receptions while scoring a TD. Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason and T.J. Houshmandzadeh each had just one catch.
