New York Jets Will Face Further Scrutiny From NFL About Tripping Incident

Just when it looked like the hottest story from Week 14 was about to cool off, reports have surfaced that the NFL now will look further into the tripping incident at last Sunday's game between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins. Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi admitted to deliberately sticking out his left knee as Dolphins cornerback Nolan Carroll ran down the right sideline, causing Carroll to tumble and fall. Carroll left the game but later returned.

"We will be following up with the Jets as we just became aware of the information (Wednesday) when we had a league meeting in Fort Worth," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told ProFootballTalk.com.

Initially the league felt that the punishment handed down by the Jets organization -- suspension for the remainder of the season and a $25,000 fine -- was enough and claimed no further investigation was necessary. But after Alosi revealed that he had instructed players to form a "wall" along the sideline all season long, ears inside the NFL's New York City headquarters perked up.
