Pat Burrell, who turned out to be a key piece to the Giants' world championship team after the Rays released him, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Giants, pending a physical, a source confirmed to FanHouse on Wednesday night. The deal was first reported by the San Jose Mercury News.
The deal, which would be for a discounted salary and loaded with incentives, is not expected to be announced for a few days, according to a source. The Giants are also not handing Burrell an everyday job, the source said, but giving him an opportunity to earn a role depending on what he shows.
Burrell's 2010 started and finished slowly, with an impressive revival in between.
