The site of Monday night's Vikings-Bears game is still up in the air thanks to a weekend snowstorm that tore through the Metrodome's roof. By the end of Tuesday, though, we should know whether it will be played at the Metrodome as planned or if it will be played at University of Minnesota's TCF Bank Stadium, the designated back-up plan.Roy Terwiliger, president of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission (which owns and operates the Metrodome) said the Vikings and NFL are assessing damage to the stadium after 17 inches of snow caused the stadium's roof to give way.
"They want to definitely keep it in Minnesota," he said. "Obviously, we're anxious for it to be here. They know that. We certainly at the same time are not going to compromise the safety of anybody working on this job nor would we certify the facility available until we're assured that everything is OK. But the time frame is the biggest thing right now."
Indeed, timing is at the forefront of Scott Ellison's thinking. Ellison, the University of Minnesota associate athletic director in charge of facilities and event management, said the school would need five or six days to get ready to host the game.
