Hartford Colonials running back Lorenzo Booker has signed a contract with the Minnesota Vikings and has been added to the active roster, according to a press release from the United Football League.Booker was on the practice squad with the Vikings last week, but a source close to the Booker situation told FanHouse that Vikings owner Zygi Wolf did not want to pay the UFL transfer fee, which was $150,000 at the time.
Since then the fee has been reduced to $25,000 in order to allow players the option of personally paying the amount in the event an NFL team would not make the payment.
Booker was the only UFL player to boycott a game due to frustration over the transfer fee, which boiled over back in November. Booker sat out the Colonials' last game of the season and was removed from the team's active roster the next day.
Paying the fee excludes Booker from finishing up his UFL contract, which expires Feb. 28.
