"I was a little shocked, to be honest," Philadelphia running back LeSean McCoy said in the moments that followed his team's wild 27-17 victory over the Giants. "I mean, it's been in there for two weeks and we haven't used it, so I was a little shocked to hear them call it at a crucial time like that."
It was a pitch to McCoy and a sweep around the left side on fourth-and-1 from midfield, down a point to the team with which they were tied for the division lead with 4:34 left in Sunday night's game. And it worked like an absolute dream. McCoy bounced outside, got a couple of blocks and outran everybody to the end zone. It was the one of the final twists in a game that featured more than a soft pretzel bakery, and it carried the Eagles right into first place in their division.
